2 Sam 3:1.
”The war between the house of Saul and the house of David lasted for a long time.”
Life they say is war, and anyone that wants to succeed in life must prepare to fight several battles. For instance a person born in 1900, may have gone through world war 1 in 1914, battled out the spanish flu in 1918, global economic crises in 1929 and world war II between 1939-1945. The first 50 years of such a person, would thus have been littered with one battle after the other.
David, similarly had his fair share of battles on his way to the throne; just as we all will, sooner or later.
- Private wars/ battles.(1 Sam 17: 34-36)
When David fought lions and bears at the backside of life, it was in the wilderness at the blindside of many. Similarly, most of us have serious struggles in our private lives that may never be known to the people around us. Remember however, that private victory always preceeds public victory. - Public wars. (1 Sam 17: 45-47)
David fought his major public battle when he fought Goliath in full view of all of Israel. Similarly, there are some battles you must fight in full view of your family and colleagues; and it is important to realise, that how you handle such battles, is observed by all. - Protracted wars. (2 Sam 3:1)
King Saul, David’s predecessor, was not willing to hand over power to the latter; so in order to become the king of Israel, David fought a protracted battle with the house of Saul. In much the same way, there are some battles you are likely to be engaged in, for almost your entire life; but you must learn to soldier on.
Dear friend, the good news is that, David eventually ascended the throne that was meant for him. The Bible says that “David waxed stronger and stronger and the house of Saul waxed weaker and weaker”. (2 Sam 3:2 )
This will be your portion in Jesus name!
I see your enemies growing weaker and weaker because the Lord is with you. Keep fighting on!
